Hi!

Now that you have had a good (?) break, we want you to study all available material on Jorn Utzen's Sydney Opera House and prepare diagrams and key text to explain the following:
- contextual influences on the design
- functional influences on the design
- technological influences on the design
- other influences on the design
Upload these on your online portfolios before the start of next term, please.

Design Education conference in Sydney

Hermie and I are at the first day of the Design Education conference at the University of New South Wales. We present papers on Tuesday (tomorrow) and Thursday and fly back on Friday.

HOLIDAY HOMEWORK PART 1

Here follows the long-awaited holiday homework (part 1):

You are required to prepare diagrams based on your Kalk Bay project to explain the design informants, as follows:

1. Technology (explain structure, materials etc.)

2. Function (circulation, served/servant, public/private etc.)

3. Context

Post these on your online portfolio, which will again be assessed as part of PM3. Also update your online portfolio and provide a link on the face book group, or e mail the link to me at Morkelj@cput.ac.za
